the project
PATTERN is a European initiative that aims at empowering Roma women to recognize domestic violence, be aware of the support mechanisms available and act as leaders of change in their communities. At the same time, it aims to equip professionals with the necessary knowledge that will enable them to respond to cases of domestic violence against Roma women in an effective manner.
What will PATTERN achieve?
Development of Domestic Violence Protocols for Roma women
Enhanced capacities of 350 Roma intercultural mediators & professionals in community centres or other local community services on domestic violence against Roma women
Enhanced capacities of
100-150 Roma women on
how to recognise and report domestic violence and act as leaders of change in their communities
Increased awareness of the Roma communities on building healthy & egalitarian relationships in order to prevent domestic violence
How will PATTERN
succeed?
PATTERN will contribute to the prevention and combatting of domestic violence against Roma women in Greece, Bulgaria, Portugal, Spain, Romania & the EU, by:
Developing protocols
that enable professionals to respond to domestic violence against Roma women in a comprehensive way.
Enhancing the capacities of at least 350 Roma intercultural mediators
and professionals in community centres/other local community services on domestic violence against Roma women.
Raising awareness
in Roma communities
egalitarian relationships.
Enhancing the capacities of at least 100-150 Roma women
on how to recognise and report domestic violence and act as leaders of change in their communities.
Increasing access to knowledge/data
on the phenomenon of domestic violence against Roma women.
